Why it matters

A school changes staff every term. Its email should not change with them.

Exam registration, ministry returns, fee reminders and supplier quotes all hang on email logins. When those sit in a teacher's personal inbox, the school loses them at the next transfer. An address on the school's own domain stays with the school.

Logins that survive transfers

Register the KNEC portal, bank, M-Pesa paybill and software accounts to exams@ or bursar@. When a teacher is transferred, the password resets still reach the school.

Parents know it is really you

Fee statements and circulars from principal@yourschool.sc.ke are hard to fake. A message from a free webmail address is easy to impersonate, and fraudsters know parents pay fees online.

Can our school get a .sc.ke domain?

Yes, if it is registered with the Ministry of Education. KENIC, which runs .ke domains, asks for a copy of the certificate of registration showing the school's name and that it is a kindergarten, primary or secondary school. The name goes live once KENIC has checked the document. We send it for you. A .sc.ke domain is free with the package.

What exactly does KES 3,000 a year include?

A free .co.ke, .or.ke, .sc.ke or .ac.ke domain, unlimited email accounts on it, 20 GB of storage shared by the mailboxes and a website, free SSL, setup of your mailboxes by our team, and 24/7 support. Prices exclude 16% VAT, so the yearly invoice is KES 3,480.

How many teachers can have an email address?

All of them. There is no per-user fee. The limit is the 20 GB of storage every mailbox and the website share. As a guide, 35 staff who keep about half a gigabyte of mail each fit comfortably. Use the estimator on this page for your own numbers.

Can students have email addresses too?

You can create them, but think about storage and supervision first. Most schools start with staff and shared office addresses, then add class or prefect addresses rather than one per learner. If you want a mailbox for every student, talk to us and we will size a plan for it.

We already use a Gmail address. What happens to it?

Keep it running while you move over. Print the new address on letterheads, fee statements and the website, update logins for the KNEC portal, bank and suppliers, and set an auto-reply on the old address pointing people to the new one. Our support team can walk you through each step.

Will email work on teachers' phones?

Yes. Every mailbox works in webmail from any browser, and in the mail apps on Android and iPhone and in Outlook. We help connect devices as part of setup.

Can we put the school website on the same package?

Yes. The package is a full hosting account with free SSL, so a website with your admissions requirements, fees structure, term dates and contacts can run on the same domain. If you would like us to design it, ask about our website design service.

Who owns the mailboxes and the domain?

The school. The domain is registered in the school's name and the board decides who holds the admin login. If you ever move to another provider, the domain and your addresses move with you.
